## Ahn Graphics Lab? AG Lab?

February 22, 2022. Ahn Graphics Lab (abbreviated and commonly known as AG Lab) is a sprout, a spore, or a side branch of Ahn Graphics. At AG Lab, we aim to…

1. Plan and carry out projects, large and small, that offer inspiration and courage to people within and beyond Ahn Graphics—including its members and potential clients—using the legacy the company has built in Korean design over some forty years as our material;
2. Explore, through these projects, different ways of producing and handling content online and offline;
3. Support Min Guhong Manufacturing’s existing activities while experimenting with another model of working;
4. Serve, through Min Guhong Manufacturing, as a hyperlink operating within and beyond the fields of art and design;
5. Share our successes and failures within and beyond existing educational systems, including New Order, PaTI, the Korean Society of Typography, and Hongik University.

In short, AG Lab makes “hyperlinks.” Its code of conduct is:

> Small, simple, unexpected, and ceaseless!

## Ahn Graphics? AG?

This is a question that AG Lab has not fully resolved, even more than a year and a half after opening on February 22, 2022. In the meantime, Ahn Graphics launched its web magazine, In and Out. There, AG Lab director Min Guhong provisionally described the relationship between “AG” and “Ahn Graphics” as follows:

> “AG” is short for “Ahn Graphics.” “Ahn Graphics” is the full form of “AG.” At the same time, “AG” can refer to the headquarters in Hannam-dong, while “Ahn Graphics” refers to AG’s publishing company and specialized design-publishing imprint in Paju Book City. In other words, on the organizational chart, Ahn Graphics belongs to AG; outside the chart, they are one body. In and Out uses “AG” and “Ahn Graphics” interchangeably, but what they refer to is much the same.

AG Lab is therefore Ahn Graphics Lab, just as Ahn Graphics Lab is AG Lab. Please take a look at the logo in the header and footer of the AG Lab website, which changes neatly with the width of the screen.
