To commemorate the Hyperlink Talk on Thursday, July 3, 2025, at 7:00 PM, we have prepared yet another hyperlink—one that is small, simple, sudden, and constant.
hyperlink.today, which functions as both a title and a URL, is a bright blue proof that we are connected. When you touch each hyperlink with a finger or mouse, hidden connections are revealed. By clicking the circle in the top-right corner, you too can join as a hyperlink. If you set a password, you can edit or delete your hyperlink later. (Of course, deleting it will break the link.) In that sense, hyperlink.today might be the simplest form of social networking. But here’s what matters: connection does not mean closeness. When you get too close, things get sticky—and stickiness often leads to distance. That’s all.
“The world is already a hypertext. Everything that inhabits or will inhabit that world is a hyperlink. And eventually, each hyperlink becomes hypertext.” When we are linked to something—or believe we are—a new story begins. And in these moments, cynicism becomes the enemy of hyperlinking.
