Min Guhong Manufacturing does not run an official internship program. However, over the years, about half a dozen people—including Song Yehwan—have built shared memories through unexpected emails. Most recently, the latest intern, Baek Changin, joined AG Lab, where Min Guhong works. This announcement is a sentence born from their traces. The Min Guhong Manufacturing Internship Assignment begins with that structure—the structure of unpredictability and repeatability. There is no fixed schedule. It is condensed into a single website. The assignment functions as an open-ended experiment in what it means to be a company.
Assignment
Read A Handmade Web and create your own website. Any direction is welcome, as long as the following conditions are met:
- Add “Manufacturing” to the end of your name to establish your own company. Where does your company parasitize? What does it not do? How would you introduce it in a single sentence?
- Refer to Company Introduction and write your own. It can appear as a section of your website or take over the entire structure. Five paragraphs are enough. It can be short. Short is not necessarily insufficient.
- Choose one product from the Min Guhong Manufacturing website and create your own version. Then write an introduction to your product. The product may be a sentence, a PDF, a folder structure, an image, a button, an awkward user experience, or even nothing at all.
- Refer to the FAQ and write an FAQ for your company. Think of it not as customer service, but as self-service.
- Use HTML and CSS to build your company’s website. JavaScript is optional. Concepts and structure come before form.
- Host your website on Neocities.
Submission

- Email subject: “[Min Guhong Manufacturing Internship] (Your Name) Manufacturing”
- Your website does not need to be finished. If it has started, it is already a company.
Afterward
- Depending on your submission, you may receive a reply. If you do, you might be invited to imagine working with Min Guhong Manufacturing. However, the “work” you imagine may differ significantly from what you’re used to.
- Since Min Guhong Manufacturing is not operated for profit, there is no salary—but there is a place to sit. In other words, you may be offered a workspace. This may help you add a line—or a stranger one—to your resume.
- And above all, even if you do not receive a reply, the emotions you felt while completing the assignment and pressing the “send” button—love, helplessness, desire, anger, trembling, release—may become memories or products worth sharing on social media.
